Bowl to Your Players Strength

You will have more success getting wickets if you bowl to your player's strength, if the player is a precise bowler then line and length over and over again will get wickets. A brute can pitch it in short, and with the right perks, can get wickets by sheer pace, and short ball/full ball tactics. Above all you need to be patient, find an area where the batsman isn't particularly comfortable and start hitting that spot repeatedly using swing/seam consistently. Then you bring one back in/out randomly or you change the pace.

How to Take Wickets

When you first start out in Career mode you will find getting wickets is difficult as you will have very low skills which will prevent you from bowling wonder-balls very often. What you need to do is set up batsmen with a string of stock or similar balls then throw in a change of pace by choosing a different variation of each ball (eg. In swinger, out swinger, slower, leg cutter) and if you nail each variation you should pick up a wicket every couple overs. Like in real life, there is no single trick to taking wickets.

Why isnt the ai playing a shot when I bowl like they don't even do anything

My guess is that the game is mimicking the actual sport. If a bowler in real cricket delivers a very good ball then the batsman probably wont offer a shot. Therefore, as above, the game could be made to be a bit like real cricket which I personally think is a nice touch

Player shots too early without my commands

Well are you playing online or single player? For online sometimes due to bad connection it happens and either you play shot too late or early but for single player you need to focus on bowler speed to see it's fast or fast medium and play your shots accordingly. Best practice is to let the bowel bounce and then press the desired shot button. I hope this helps other option is to go into practice game and play couple of overs to get yourself in.
